Andrey Leonov’s research focuses on magnetically ordered crystals with the tools of modern computational nano-magnetism. He has worked on a phenomenological description of magnetic phenomena on the nanoscale in non-centrosymmetric magnets with chiral Dzyaloshinskii- Moriya interaction, chiral liquid crystals, and frustrated magnets, predominantly related to skyrmionics. Even before the experimental discovery of magnetic skyrmions, Leonov reported precursor effects on skyrmion states in cubic helimagnets.
