Science Knot

The Science Knot Building, located at Hiroshima University, serves as the headquarters of WPI-SKCM².

Opening Hours

Building Hours: Weekdays 7:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

・Outside these hours, the building will be locked. To enter, please use your pre-registered staff or student ID card at the card reader
located at the main entrance or the east entrance.

WPI-SKCM2 Office (5th Floor) Hours: Weekdays 8:30 a.m. – 5:15 p.m.

Connecting Doors to Faculty of Science Building D: Weekdays 7:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

・Outside these hours, the doors will be locked.

1F WPI-SKCM² Exhibition Space

The first floor features WPI-SKCM² Exhibition Space with a variety of interactive exhibits, allowing visitors to explore knot theory and chirality. It also highlights the ongoing mission and research achievements of WPI-SKCM².

1F Community Space

A vibrant and welcoming space designed to encourage discussion, collaboration, and informal interaction is offered on the first floor of Science Knot Building.

The area also serves as the venue for WPI-SKCM² Coffee Time, where students, postdoctoral researchers, faculty members, researchers, and administrative staff can gather in a relaxed atmosphere to connect with colleagues, exchange research ideas, and strengthen collaborations across the institute.

Coffee Time is held every Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. and every Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. WPI-SKCM² members are welcome to join or leave at any time during the session, and no pre-registration is required.

2F Seminar Room

A versatile seminar room equipped with state-of-the-art audiovisual and hybrid conferencing systems and is designed for seminars, lectures, meetings, and hybrid events.

1F, 3F, 4F State-of-the-art Laboratories and Facilities

Throughout the building, cutting-edge laboratories and research facilities, including the NEOARM Transmission Electron Microscope, support scientists and researchers in conducting advanced experiments and advancing scientific discovery.

4F Shared Young Researchers’ Room

At the heart of WPI-SKCM² is the “Under One Roof” concept, where graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and faculty members from diverse disciplines share a vibrant office lounge. Designed to encourage spontaneous interaction, the space promotes interdisciplinary collaboration, lively discussions, and lasting friendships alongside world-class research.
