Application Process

The application consists of two steps:

Step 1: Submit the preliminary screening application to WPI-SKCM². Applicants will be screened and interviewed by the WPI-SKCM² Graduate Education Committee. Upon approval, continue to

Step 2: Submit a comprehensive application to the applicable Hiroshima University department, which is decided by the affiliation of your primary HU mentor.

Deadlines

There are two enrollment periods at Hiroshima University, in April and October, with corresponding application deadlines typically falling around November and May. To verify Hiroshima University-specific deadlines, please refer to the HU department website pages in the table below.

・The graduate students in the WPI-SKCM2 are eligible for entrance and full tuition fees exemption and financial support adequate to cover living expenses in Japan.

・Ph.D. students are recommended to conduct research their research at the Higashi-Hiroshima campus of Hiroshima University for two and half years out of three years due.

・Ph.D. students can stay and work in foreign research groups; their travel and lodging expenses will be covered by the WPI-SKCM2 for up to 6 months. Students who want to extend their stay at foreign laboratories over 6 months she/he has to secure their lodging expenses during the extended periods by themselves or ask for financial support from their supervisors’ budgets.
