WPI-SKCM² Postdoctoral Researcher Wins RSC CrystEngComm Poster Award at ISMSC 2025

On May 29, Dr. Yudai Ono, a postdoctoral researcher at the International Institute for Sustainability with Knotted Chiral Meta Matter (WPI-SKCM²), Hiroshima University, was awarded the RSC CrystEngComm Poster Award. The honor recognizes his outstanding presentation skills during the poster session of the 19th International Symposium on Macrocyclic and Supramolecular Chemistry (ISMSC 2025), held in conjunction with the 9th NanoLSI Symposium from May 25–30 at ROHM Theatre Kyoto and Miyako Messe.

Dr. Ono’s presentation stood out among numerous entries for its clarity, scientific contribution, and visual impact. His award-winning poster, titled “Selective Molecular Absorption and Separation Using Latent Porosity in a Crystalline Compound of Tris(phenylisoxazoly)benzene,” showcased collaborative research conducted with Prof. Takeharu Haino, who serves as the Principal Investigator at WPI-SKCM² and other collaborators.

“I’m truly honored to receive the RSC CrystEngComm Poster Award. It’s a great encouragement and motivates me to continue pushing forward in my research. I’m very grateful for the support from my mentors and collaborators,” said Dr. Yudai Ono.

Reflecting on his experience, Dr. Ono encouraged fellow researchers to persevere through challenges and emphasized that every effort contributes to scientific progress. He also expressed hope that this recognition would open new doors for networking and collaboration with like-minded researchers.

“Research can be challenging at times, but every effort contributes to progress. I hope this award will help raise awareness of my work and lead to new opportunities for collaboration with fellow researchers,” he added.

The RSC CrystEngComm Poster Award is sponsored by CrystEngComm, a journal of the Royal Society of Chemistry.
