Bio

Prof. Yi-Hsin Lin received her BS degree in physics from National Tsing Hua University (Taiwan), MS in Institute of Electro-Optical Engineering of National Chiao Tung University (NCTU, Taiwan), and Ph.D. in Optics from College of Optics and Photonics: CREOL & FPCE, University of Central Florida. After graduation, she joined the Department of Photonics of NCTU as an assistant professor and promoted as a full professor in 2015. In 2021, she was promoted as distinguished professor in National Yang Ming Chiao Tong University (NYCU). She is director in Tin-Ka-Ping Photonics Center, NYCU and joint appointment professor in Department of Dentistry, NYCU. She was elected as OSA fellow in 2021 and SPIE fellow in 2022. Prof. Lin received many awards, such as Google Gift (2022), Ming-Wen Chang Optical Technology Award (From Taiwan Photonics Society, 2022), Innolux Best Research Award (2021), Photonic Technology Contribution Award (from Taiwan Photonic Society, 2020), Facebook Distinguished Faculty Award (2020), Google University Research Award (2018), Young Investigator Award in Photonic Engineering (from Taiwan Photonic Society, 2015), and Glenn H. Brown Prize by International Liquid Crystal Society (2008). She also received teaching awards many times. The research interests of Prof. Lin are LC-based photonic devices and to explore all the possibility of photonic applications using liquid crystals.

What I like about my science: Light and how light propagates in liquid crystals fascinate me. Versatile liquid crystal photonic applications benefit human beings.
