Koichi Hattori (Zheijan University): Chiral magnetohydrodynamics and a parity-odd hydrodynamic instability induced by chiral magnetic effect

Hybrid, VBL 204 & Zoom

I first discuss recent reformulation of relativistic magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) based on the conservation of magnetic flux and find seven dissipative transport coefficients within the first order in a derivative expansion [1,2,3]. I then introduce an axial charge density that breaks parity invariance and formulate chiral MHD based on chiral anomaly equation. I discuss a derivation of chiral magnetic effect in chiral MHD and finally point out occurrence of a new hydrodynamic instability based on the solutions for chiral MHD near an equilibrium state [1].
