Reiko Kuroda (Frontier Research Institute, Chubu University) Chiromorphology – Revealing how molecules form macroscopic objects through chirality

Hybrid, VBL 204 & Zoom

All objects, both animate and inanimate, are made up of many molecules that give them unique properties. Examples include polymers, crystals, and organisms. In this seminar, I will introduce three themes/approaches I have been working on and future research plans: 1) Chiroptic spectroscopy in condensed phases, 2) Molecular behavior during crystallization and within crystals, 3) Establishment of the left and right animal body plan, starting from a single chiral molecule within a non-cleaved fertilized egg, through the biological hierarchy to individual organisms.
