Tatsuo Nehira (HU) Circular Dichroic Spectroscopy beyond Exciton Coupling: Some Examples of Stereochemical Analysis
Hybrid, VBL 204 & Zoom
In structure analysis of organic compounds, determination of the absolute configuration is an important issue in many cases. When there is no help from standard methods such as optical rotation, X-ray, or NMR, this can be a difficult problem to solve. Circular dichroic spectroscopy, or CD, is one of the most helpful options. Measuring CD is easy and quick to perform, which provides advantages over the other methods. Interpreting the CD spectra, however, is not always easy. In this lecture, several examples of absolute stereochemical determination are explained from experience in our research group.
