Yasuaki Hiraoka (Kyoto University, WPI-ASHBi) Some fusion research between mathematics and life/materials science
Hybrid, VBL 204 & Zoom

In this talk, I explain some fusion research with life science (at WPI-ASHBi, Kyoto U) and materials science (at WPI-AIMR, Tohoku U) as a mathematician. In both fusion research, I developed novel data analysis methods using topology, representation theory, and probability theory, as well as applied them to single-cell biology and structural analysis of several materials (amorphous, battery, etc). If time is allowed, I would like to also share several experiences about difficulties to perform interdisciplinary research and resolutions of them.
