Bio
Zunera works at the intersection of computational biology and soft matter physics. With a focus on how multivalent interactions and reaction-diffusion dynamics give rise to topological defects, her work uses Monte Carlo lattice simulations to predict liquid-liquid phase separation in protein condensates. By adding non-equilibrium behavior to coarse-grained models, she aims to comprehend the basic mechanisms underlying the formation of membraneless organelles. Her broader area of interest in science is how topology and soft-matter physics shape biological structure at all scales, from the molecular to the mesoscale.
